‘Well of Death’ – this term comes up every time there is any grouping in international football or club football. Word is still coming after this year’s Champions League groupings. It is coming to the benefit of the ‘C’ group. In this year’s Champions League draw ceremony in Istanbul today, two other former champions Bayern Munich and Inter Milan have joined Barcelona in this group.
Barcelona, Bayern, and Inter have won 14 Champions League titles together. Among them, Bayern’s title is the most, and the German club’s trophy case adorns 6 trophies in the fight for European club football excellence. Barcelona won 5 trophies. And Inter Milan’s trophy case has 3 Champions League trophies.
Barcelona and Bayern Munich being in the same group has another significance. Robert Lewandowski left Bayern and signed for Barcelona this season. The Champions League draw pitted them against the newly-former club in the group stage.
