Real Madrid lose to Villarreal at the El Madrigal in La Liga

Villarreal took the lead less than 2 minutes after the break. Jeremy Pino’s shot went over Farlan Mendy in the Real net. The source of the goal was also Mendi’s mistake. His pass was intercepted by Dani Pareho. Then Gerard Moreno’s foot turns and the ball goes to Pino.

Villarreal had the chance to extend the gap for the remainder of the match. Thibaut Courtois saved Real once in added time. Just before the referee blew the final whistle, Amout Danyuma took a shot that hit Real’s empty goal post from 40 yards. The ball goes slightly outside the post.

Both teams wasted chances in the first half. Villarreal had the first chance to score. Francis Coquelin’s backheel is intercepted by the post. Alex Baenao missed the opportunity from close range. On the other hand, goalkeeper Pepe Reina saved Villarreal. Raina blocked Vinicius Junior’s shot in the 40th minute.

After this loss, Real Madrid is second on the points list with 38 points in 16 matches. Barcelona is at the top on goal difference with 38 points after one less game. On the other hand, in this victory, Villarreal has risen to fifth on the list with 27 points in 16 matches.
